South Africa
Safari in Kruger National Park
The Greater Kruger National Park offers some of the best "Big 5" game viewing opportunities in the world. After a couple of nights "settling in", we'll be heading into the Sabi Sands game reserve, to spend a few days looking for the big 5.
Port Elizabeth and The Garden Route
After a night in Port Elizabeth, which has the best climate and more sunshine than anywhere else in South Africa, we're going to spend about a week driving along the world-famous Garden Route, stopping to admire the "Beautiful coastlines, breathtaking mountains and valleys, tall forests, deep blue lakes and lagoons". We'll be staying in Tsitsikamma National Park and Knysna along the way.
Whale-watching in Hermanus
Hermanus is one of the best places in the world to watch whales - Southern Right , Humpbacks and Bryde's whales are most commonly seen. From the shore you can apparently see the whales clearly, as they come into the bay to calve.
Cape Town and The Winelands
To end our honeymoon we are going to be spending 4 days in Cape Town; "one of the outstanding cities of the world". Nestled at the foot of the majestic Table Mountain and bordered by the Atlantic Ocean, Cape Town offers an appealing mix of cosmopolitan restaurants, good shopping, historic monuments, mountain hikes, sandy beaches and rich history. The climate is Mediterranean, with mild winters and hot summers, and in addition to the city itself the countless wineries of the Cape Winelands and the nature reserves of the Cape Peninsula are only a short drive away.
Instead of a traditional wedding list, we've decided to ask people to make a contribution towards our honeymoon. If you like to contribute and help us make our honeymoon one to remember please visit our wedding list page.
