While studying in Portsmouth, Krissie and her housemates arranged a house-party; to which Ian was invited by a friend of a friend. Ian decided to go along with the intention of pulling a "pikey student". For once in his life Ian succeeded (apart from the pikey bit!), thanks to Jonny Winters, the need to wee and a bout of concussion the rest is history!

Following the Bangkok incident, it took nine months for Ian to decide if fate was trying to tell him something! While on holiday in La Manga, Ian decided to surprise Krissie with a day out in a "speedboat" to celebrate the end of her dissertation. After a day spent nearly capsizing, being beaten by waves and running out of petrol, Ian got down on one knee with the sun setting over the Mar Menor and popped the question. Krissie of course said yes!
